Cross Plant Material Status in SAP

The field X-plant Mat.Status, short for Cross-Plant Material status indicator sits in the Material Master, Basic Data 1 view in SAP S4/HANA, Material Management SAP MM and PP domain. The field is super helpful in blocking certain materials usabilityina particular plants.

Here is what SAP says about the field X-Plant Mat.Status:

This field basically defines how the material can be used in combination with a particular plant.

You can obviously block material usage on a higher level, you can block materials on a client, which will block the usage on all the subsequent organizational levels, but the usage of the field X-Plant Material Status can stop for example production in one plant, while allowing other plants to use the material with no issue.

What is the table used to view the IS X-Plant Mat.Status?

T141T shows you all the material status from MM/PP view

If you want to view the status of a material in combination of a particular plant, you can use Table MARC and use the field MMSTA , like the below:

1. Go To table SE16N, and search for table MARC
2. Write down your Material Number and your plant
3. Find the field MS, or MMSTA

You can also do additional configuration in the system where you can display Warning or Error messages when you use that material. You can also create your own statuses.
